i have a new pc with a intel video card embedded on the motherboard, i have added an ati video card hd 6570.
i have try to install the proprietary driver but the fglrx-driver are not compatible with the xserver-xorg-core on sid.
I want use 2 monitor with the 2 video card.
i have used aptosid with the intel and the next day (today) i have installed on the motherboard the ati card.
Now kde detects only the monitor connected on the ati...
Now i use the open source driver for the ati.
I attatch the xorg log.
the log of xrandr:
Code:
root@aptosid:/home/mte90# xrandr

| Dual-Screen has been working with radeon since the dawn of day (aka XFree86 4.3), likewise it's working with intel cards. While the manual describes how it can be configured using two heads of one card, I don't know how well two graphics cards from different vendors may work together, However it should be possible, but only using free drivers for both cards. |

| typically, if you add a discrete video card, the motherboard will disable the onboard gpu in bios, so the only real option (and best option) is to plug both monitors into the ati card. unless you have some specific reason to need intel graphics, having both monitors on the ati card will provide for a superior viewing experience. i have two monitors plugged into a 4650 card and it works flawlessly with the opensource driver. unless you need the 3d performance, there's no reason to use fglrx. just be sure to install the firmware and you'll be good to go. |

While that may be true, there might be an oddball machine that keeps the onboard GPU active even after plugging in a standard discrete graphics card/ |
