I found out (quite by accident) that Netgear wg111v3 USB wireless devices work in sidux (upgraded to Aptosid) with no firmware required. A friend had one and let me try it on my new (to me) laptops, a Thinkpad T41, and an HP ze1230. Just plug it in, configure via Ceni, and I was online.

I hope this will be helpful to someone, considering the struggles some have had with wireless networking. Just be sure to get v3! Other versions may have different chipsets that are problematical.

Nice...I have a v2 one and will look for a v3

If there are any others who have this particular WLAN stick they should share their experiences
