Hi there.
I'm running Aptosid on my homeserver and occasionally it will drop all connections and kind of "block the internet" until i press any key on the keyboard.
This happens almost daily, but not in a steady pattern as i could observe.
I assume it's a problem with some kind of powersaving-daemon who is simply switching off my Ethernet-Card - while it isn't even idle though.
Does anyone have a clue how to fix this?
ifconfig output on eth0 (Hardware Adresse obscured)

Doesn't anyone have some idea what i could try or which config-file i might look into?
I've looked for a solution inside /etc/pm/ - there are 3 subdirectorys - all empty except "sleep.d". Inside there's a file called "74ifplugd" in wich i added the line "exit 0" on top. Still, my problem persists.
I'm kinda lost here, any advice is welcome. |

I would rather suspect a hardware reason, like broken cable (or just not seated properly) or issues with your switch(-port). |

Thanks for your reply. I'll exchange the cable, plug it into another port and see if the problem persists.
The fact that pressing any random key on the keyboard instantly fixes the problem (temporary) made me believe in a software-problem while the randomness of the problems occurance clearly speaks against that theory. |

I once had lots of fun with an ethernet switch, which worked fine - until it lost power (switched off as part of a power strip, like all my gear when I'm not around), then it suddenly started to reflect incoming packages and totally killed the powered network segments (everything directly connected to the router), up to connection losses… |
