I was wondering how I would go about telling xfce what device the keyboard shortcut (my Fn keys) should use, for some reason they control the HDMI output and not the Internal which is what I want them to effect. I can't seem to find anything about setting a master device anywhere and padevchooser is now deprecated and I'm not sure if XFCE would conform to that anyways, I've looked for where the Fn keys are mapped but can't find them. Not sure if this will help but I'll post the output of pacmd list-sources and list-sinks

      Code:
troy@troy-pc:~$ pacmd list-sources

Not sure if this is helpful, but afaik you can assign priority to sound devices in /proc/asound/modules - perhaps editing this file solves you problem.

Edit: /etc/modprobe.d/sound-cards-order will make changes permanent
