Hello,

I get this error when boot recently.

      Code:
Not starting fancontrol; run pwmconfig first. (warning)

Not sure what to do. when I run pwmconfig, it askes me if I want to set up manually, so I answer "no" which is the default answer. I try this in terminal;

      Code:
# /etc/init.d/fancontrol start
[warn] Not starting fancontrol; run pwmconfig first. ... (warning).

# /etc/init.d/fancontrol status
[FAIL] fancontrol is not running ... failed!

Please advice.

I'm running aptosid, all packages up-to-date. Kernel 3.4-1.slh.3, and it is the only OS on this system. Standard xfce install. It's not running in VM.

My fan speed seems the same to previous time before this error.

      Code:

                       (crit = +85.0°C, hyst = +83.0°C)  sensor = transistor

Is usually 13xx - 15xx rpm, varying with room temperature and climate. Same now as last time. Previously, when Core 0 & Core 1 get hot under load, above 60 degreeC, the fan speed will double to 3000+ and cool the CPU again, but I haven't test that after the boot error.

I try to locate any fancontrol related scripts, and find this in /etc/rc2.d/S01fancontrol@

      Code:

exit 0

as stated by the "Default-Start" info in the script, there's also same file found in rc3.d, rc4.d and r5.d.

What to do? Sould I just disable fancontrol with "update-rc.d fantrol remove" or rcconf, or is there some other issue?

Thanx for your time.
