After a du on Wednesday cups is broken. I can't print. I have no installed printers. I can get to localhost:631 but all menu items go to screen that says Page Not Found. There is bug 741528 but I don't have those symptoms. Anyone else having trouble with cups?

CuPS has definately become a very fragile package, but the administration pages are accessible for me and printing via a network socket:// to a native postscript printer is working over here.

The situation might be totally different for different hardware.

Thanks, the administration pages are now accessible but still can't print. I tried removing cups entirely and re-installing but still no joy. I'm running a Dell 2320 All in One with Sandy Bridge integrated graphics. Looking at the printer page I see an error message on the print job that says
      Quote:
Paused - "File "/usr/lib/cups/filter/hpcups" not available: No such file or directory"

      Code:
aptitude search hpcups
pi  printer-driver-hpcups

apt-get install cups cups-client cups-bsd foomatic-db foomatic-db-engine foomatic-db-gutenprint ghostscript-x hplip openprinting-ppds printer-driver-hpcups printer-driver-pnm2ppa

(I was referring to the printer hardware, not your computer ;)

Installing the list of packages you gave me worked. By the way I'm using an HP Office Pro 8600. Thanks for your help
