Please enable CONFIG_TIMER_STATS in the kernel to enable ACPI capabilities in powertop.

This is the (German) message that powertop provides:

Keine ACPI Stromverbrauch-Schätzung verfügbar

Keine detaillierte Statistik verfügbar; aktivieren Sie CONFIG_TIMER_STATS in Ihrem Kernel.
Diese Option befindet sich im Abschnitt "Kernel Debugging" der Kernel-Konfiguration.
(verfügbar über CONFIG_DEBUG_KERNEL=y in der config Datei)
Achtung: Das funktioniert erst ab Kernel 2.6.21

Please use the forum search to see the already existing conversations about powertop, they include all the info about our reasons why we don't. You might also search the old sidux forum we have archived.
Bottom line: Re-compile your own aptosid kernel with this setting on, if you really feel you need Powertop, and believe in the wonders it promises. That's easy to do, a nice HowTo is in our Wiki.
Greetings,
Chris

Hi there,

I used the forum search. The only match was about saving powertop's settings permanently:
http://aptosid.com/index.php?name=PNphp ... t=powertop

Anyway, thanks for the answer.
