This is about getting an Android phone with a Kensington dongle to work.

Bluedevil works in that it sees the phone, but it will not connect.

The other thread here at the forum has the poster installing blueman and it works.

I've used blueman so i have no problem with that.

However, at the Bluedevil site it says to have the following installed:

      Quote:

* bluez (to get it working)
* obex-data-server (for receiving files, and KIO’s)
* obexd-client (for sending files)
* KDE SC 4.4 or greater
* PulseAudio, or a proper configured Alsa (with the bluetooth hook)

So. aptosid uses alsa.

I installed the alsa bluetooth hook (bluez-alsa) and still no joy.

So the question that I present is:

a) is there another dependency which is not noted at the Bluedevil site that might help, or did I install the wrong one.
b) install pulse-audio alongside alsa and hope that things don't go bonkers with some obscure sound item.
c) uninstall alsa and go with pulse.
d) go with blueman.

I really do not have a preference, this is for discussion purposes and I will follow the advice of people who know more than I do.

here is the bluedevil site

go with whatever works. you do not want b nor c.
bluedevil might not be fully working yet. blueman is known to work.

Hi,
thanks for the reply.

I don't really HAVE to have bluetooth transfer for the few pics and stuff I transfer using bt. And bulk transfers are easier with a tether. So unless there are other suggestions, I'll try blueman to verify that it does work and then uninstall it and wait to see if bluedevil updates to where it works.
thanks
