I spent a day tying to get the live CD for aptosid to work and it kept hanging 30 seconds into the startup. After searching the forum I discovered that the Live CD has a bug with Radeon Graphics cards.
http://aptosid.com/index.php?name=PNphp ... ht=live+cd
The temporary fix is simply to add the cheatcode "radeon.modeset=0" The problem has apparently been fixed in more recent kernels.
My point:
This should be fixed in the Live iso's or at least noted as a bug on the news page? There must be dozens of potential new users, with radeon cards, who have given up on aptosid because of this "undocumented feature". |

| Even if there could be a warning placed on the News Announcement for the Live CD, then the newb's won't be discouraged by what looks to them like a distro that simply doesn't work. |

i think the "new" user wont aim for Debian, and maybe not a unstable one.
But i know what you mean. |
