Hiya everyone,

after installing aptosid I'm getting no reactions when inserting media into my second optical drive (which is a NEC 4550A). Drive #1 (a DVD-ROM) is ok.

Well, actually "no reactions" isn't quite correct. The drive does rotate after the door is closed and you can see the LED working but that was it...no matter if the inserted medium is a DVD-RAM, a DVD-ROM or a CD.
Directly before installing aptosid the drive was used to backup data on DVD-RAM, so I'm sure the drive isn't broken.

I want it to react like it had before...detect new media and offer a process to start, so what can I do?

AdThanksvance,

ganymed

Geeeez, looks like you're right....thanks, anyway.
It's funny that only /dev/sr0 seems to be affected whereas /dev/sr1 works fine.

So let's wait and see how this is going on.
