Thanks. This is what I got:

iustitia@aptosidbox:~$ cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xdfef8000 irq 40
iustitia@aptosidbox:~$ lspci | grep -i audio
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)

What next?

Your soundcard is recognized and the soundsystem is up and running.
Check the volumes with alsamixer.

After a recent DU something changes in audio files.

When I boot and log onto KDE it stucks for a while and I get the following message:

This does not happened in the past.

hi snvv,

i had a similar warning concerning the hdmi-out of my graficcard (nvidia, but shouldn't make a difference this time) - i clicked on manage devices: the hdmi-out onlay changed its name, that was everything. delete the old name and use the new entry Wink

I only have Kmixer on right, on the toolbar. I looked in the package list and this is what I have installed. Must I apt-get install alsa-gui ? Or what should I do?

Thanks!

@daniel_ro: Please create a new topic for this problem, because it is unrelated to your initial problem. Additionally it would be nice when you edit your first post of this thread and mark the subject line [solved]
