Hi,

following slams advice in this thread: http://www.aptosid.com/index.php?name=P ... amp;t=777.
As I'm curious I've tried immediatly.

Nouveau driver is running but I get a black screen ev'ry few minutes. Black screen stays for about one second, then normal screen is back and I can go on with what ever I've done. It is not a Xserver restart or anything alike. I would guess my backlight is switching off and on again, but I'm not sure.
It is not a notebook and I cant find anything related in dmesg or /var/log/messages. Monitor is an Acer AL2216W, and it works without problems using the nvidia-driver.

my Xorg.0.log

Strange: The intervall seems to get longer. In fact it happened five times until now, I'll watch further on. First time was about a minute after xserver started, last time about 20 minutes after the last one. Uptime now 50 minutes.

Beside this the driver works. Can't find any other problems.

Any ideas?

Thanks
ayla

Update: Intervalls don't get longer. They are randomly, 30sec up to 20min

EDIT: OK, should have opened my eyes and used my head earlier.
As I see now in Xorg log my chipset isn't listed as supported. Also the nouveau homepage isn't clear about that. So I no longer wonder there are problems.
But it's surprising it's working as well as it does.
Going back to nvidia-driver but waiting for the next version(s) with exitement.

sorry wasting your time
ayla

HINT: To get nouveau loaded I had to additionally apply:

      Code:
apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg-core

to get the old lib(whatever).so back, wich were replaced with nvidias prop. ones.

Otherwise it used the fallback driver vesa.
