Well, keyboard and display might not be easy on common router hardware - although there are usb2vga solutions (but then the system RAM might be a little too small for running X)...

belze, aptosid-xfce is the smallest iso for now.
Install it, and start a seesion in fluxbox, or installing other light wm,
and you have what you want. You can remove unused sofware as you find.

thank slh for your answer. meta-package solution is just an idea, i could live without it.
My real dream is to have a basic system to start.
@muchan i know i can use xfce images or kde-lite. If i have to install my favourite distro on a very low device, could be a nettop, i don't want do have on it even +1 package i did not want to install. Purge unwanted packages can be a waste of time.

Again, these are wishes: aptosid is really fantastic this way!
