I could get sensor view to detect acpi temp. It is unknown. It used to detect it. I am using xfce version of aptosid. I don't know what to do next to get this acpi temp read out. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, I just installed lm-sensors. I went through all the setups. It only detects coretemp 0 and 1. ACPI is still unknown. I don't know where to go from here.

| Yes I'm finding that my fan is continuously running and I get around a stable 60 degrees. When I'm running windows 7 on this same laptop under very light programs, I am idling around 42 degrees. I also need help to bring my temperature down to the same as when i'm using windows 7. |

I've the same exact problem.
Also the xfce temperature applet doesn't read the acpi temperature.
I've done what is suggested here:

but with no success. When I've finished the described procedure, two new temperatures appeared (core0 and core1) but they are obviously too low to be true!
Strangely "acpi -t" reads the exact temperatures.
I've attached the output of "sensors" and "acpi -t".

Same here under xfce since some time.
acpi -t shows the correct temperature, but conky don't get it and says "0".
Xfce temperature knows both core temperatures (correct) but no acpi values. |

I've installed debian kernel 2.6.32-5 (not the aptosid one) and, with that kernel, the problem disappeared.
I've attached the outputs from "sensors" and from "acpi -t" with debian kernel 2.6.32-5.
Could it be something related with aptosid kernel customization? And, if so, could aptosid developers do something about it?

ACPI has heavy changed fron 2.6.32 to 2.6.37, you see the difference?
For real compare, you sdhould install the debian-kernel from experimental. |

I've activated the experimental repository and I've installed libuuid-perl and linux-base (debian kernel dependencies) from experimental but how can I install the debian 2.6.37 kernel from experimental repository?
When I wrote: "apt-get -t experimental install linux-image-2.6.37", apt tried to install the aptosid kernel (which is already installed).

probably:
# apt-get install linux-image-2.6.37-trunk-686/experimental linux-headers-2.6.37-trunk-686/experimental
(in this case, same packages will installed with
# apt-get install -t experimental linux-image-2.6.37-trunk-686 linux-headers-2.6.37-trunk-686
but from what we learned from DonKult, I think <package>/<repository> is prefered command...) |

I've installed debian kernel 2.6.37-1-amd64

| @GdV87 Reality check the 7.0/16.0 C readings on your cpu (maybe thru bios screen). The values are very low and even the spread between cores shouldn't be more than about 6C. A false reading isn't better than no reading. |

I'm sure that those readings aren't true, because they are far below the temperature of the room.
However, the readings from "acpitz-virtual-0" (present in the debian kernel and absent in aptosid kernel) correspond at the real core temperatures.
