When I'm trying to connect my wife's netbook (aptosid KDE fully upgraded) with her Korg keyboard through an USB 20.0 MidiSport 1x1 duplex connector, the computer does not recognize the MIDI device and the connection isn't possible.

But if I (or she) open first the Win SO (yes, her computer has still this muck) the keyboard is connected without issues. And, -this is the curious- if the computer is rebooted (without disconnect the keyboard) to aptosid, the MIDI device is now recognized.

Could someone give us a clue for no pass across Win?

Thanks in advance.

I guess all you need is to install midisport-firmware (note it's non-free)

In case, that the device is first mounted as drive with drivers for windows,
maybe usb-modeswitch helps.

Yes, bfree, midisport-firmware is the package we needed.

Thank you very much.
