I have trouble with my notebook since a couple of days. Wifi stoped working and I had random kernel panics with wlc errors.

My hardware:
      Code:

Network cards   Broadcom NetLink BCM57780 Gigabit PCIe

      Code:
lspci |grep -i network
05:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM43224 802.11a/b/g/n (rev 01)

I installed apt-get install firmware-brcm80211 and the module is loaded.
      Code:
grep -i brcm
brcm80211             688542  0
mac80211              199109  1 brcm80211
cfg80211              140619  2 brcm80211,mac80211
root@dellbox:/home/se7en#

dmesg:
      Code:
dmesg |grep -i brcm
[    6.928047] brcm80211: module is from the staging directory, the quality is unknown, you have been warned.

Just in case somebody cares.
I have not had any kernel panics since i apt-get remove firmware-brcm80211.
So I guess the firmware causes the panic.

Well this is not nice but better than a hardware failure, which was my first guess.

I removed it but the module still gets loaded at boot.
Which file do I have to edit to remove bcrm80211?

echo blacklist bcrm80211 > /etc/modprobe.d/myblacklist.conf
