Hi,
in my humble opinion
The ttf-droid android fonts seem much better than the native Debian fonts.
Is there a package available, as it is not found as apt-get install ttf-droid, even with non free enabled
Thanks and
Regardz

It's in NEW, it means, not yet entered to sid?
http://ftp-master.debian.org/new/ttf-dr ... git-1.html

The discussion is here:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=511036

seems "would be maintainer" of this package has lost interest.

Thanx, suchan
That "new" one seems dead in the water.
However it is interesting as there is a deb package in ubuntu/kubuntu land called ttf-droid, so they maintain it in their universe or backports but of course do not pass it on to debian, as they continually fork packages as snapshots of sid for their "releases". But wait Matiuz's blog gives deb packages of both droid and ubuntu fonts as

ttf-droid_1.00~b112+dfsg+1-0ubuntu1_all.deb

after I
apt-get install conkeror conkeror-spawn-process-helper
and
dpkg -i /directory/ it worked and aptosid looks much better to me now after adjusting fonts.

Good on you towo, and thanx
last I checked a few days ago ttf-droid was not there.
For those who don't know and want a GUI
alt-F2
then kdesu kate
root password
kate
new session
open
/etc/apt/
sources.list.d
in either debian.list or aptosid.list
add
deb http://frickelplatz.de/debian/ sid main contrib non-free
save as and overwrite
then
apt-get update
apt-get install frickelplatz-archive-keyring

However frickelplatz is not "official" but can sure can be useful, if there are any problems just # it out in the list.

I installed ttf-droid now myself and this is a pretty nice font. Especially that it includes all non-latin characters.

Here I was wrong... I set the font to show in window manager, but maybe it's the program
which does not know about the encoding.

I stand corrected. ttf-droid include Droid Japanese font set.

+1

I installed this font on my Thinkpad and it indeed looks nice and crisp compared to the native Debian fonts

This font's best for laptops/netbooks or smaller LCD's on desktops IMO
