Hi,
I have had a MB failure, but cannot migrate aptosid over for though it boots it cannot configure any new network card, or any I plug into PCI.
It went from Gigabyte board to an asus board which are quite similar.
Kubuntu/ubuntu debian stable and MS 7 all came across OK, but not aptosid, its hardware detection is not up to this it seems.
Any suggestions very welcome or is it a new install yet again.

What about booting with the latest aptosid live-cd and give us the output of

infobash -v
lspci -v

Perhaps if you have a spare partition of 10-15 GB reinstalling can be the fastest way to a running aptosid.

Yep,
the fact it cannot even detect old pci network cards, show the old install is a dead dog now and cannot settle on a new MB, so rescue what you can and get on with it I guess.
Schade!
Perhaps I will try the live cd first
