I have this problem that line mic is the default and it is working, but front mic is not selectable. No option in kmix or alsamixer.
I can select it using the alsa utility "hda analyzer", if I choose Node[0x34]AUD_SEL and change from "pin Complex [0x18]" to "pin Complex [0x12]". But afer reboot the selected mic is always line mic.
Tried various alsa configurations without success.
Card is ALC889 |

Since I don't see any suggestion, could someone indicate me the right forum to ask for the question? Alsa-users, alsa devel....?
Or I wait for alsa 1.0.24? But when debian will release it? I fear I will have to wait... |

I have solved (waiting for alsa 1.0.24) launching the following command:
hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x24 SET_CONNECT_SEL 11
after installing hda-verb.
Added a script in kde autostart. |

I know only about kmix. Takes a bit of time initially for mic and capture selections,
but works.

No kmix or alsamixer option was working since autoswitch from external to internal mic was not configured by alsa for my card. Also changing computer model in alsa configuration file was not working.
I think it will be enabled in the next alsa version 1.0.24, when debian will release it.. |
